Reference Sites & Search Engines
At the Yankton Community Library, we believe that a library website is only as valuable
as its links to other sources - a sort of "one-stop, informational source," if you will. Based on that
premise, we've provided you with a list of valuable links to a multitude of sources/web pages.
Recommended List of Search Engines :
Try this link for a list of
Internet search engines Search
Engines. It's estimated that about 1 billion individual
web sites are currently accessible over the Internet. Each search engine searches only about 1-2%
of those pages and finds sites differently - there's even several search engines that look at your query
in relationship to recent web site "hits" and prioritizes those hits for you! Look through
these links, try
out several search engines and see which ones work best for you. Don't forget to use "help" screens/buttons so you know how each search engine works.
If you'd like to see how these search engines search, use of Boolean logic (and, or, but, not) and phrasing, visit.
Also, you can run your own search engine test and rate search engines at Searchengineshowdown.
You can also try the following links: More Search Engines, and Searchenginewatch.
Try these two links for an up-to-date listing/linking of all the new and best search engines:
Try these two search engines if you're looking for multimedia or graphic images.
